Griselinia littoralis is one of the most popular native shrubs growing happily from coastal lowlands to alpine regions in both Islands. Whenuapai is a selection with a more upright habit and darker glossy green foliage than the species.
Griselinia thrive in a well-drained sunny location and respond well to trimming and shaping.
Whenuapai makes a great formal dark green hedge up to 3m tall or it can be left untrimmed as a screen, shelter or backdrop for other dramatic plants. Equally at home in the sub tropical garden or formal setting.
Griselinia Whenuapai was a chance seedling selected by Tom Johnson of Totara Grove Nurseries who recognized its unique characteristics.
