Exotic Trees > Archontophoenix cunninghamiana
Archontophoenix cunninghamiana or Bangalow Palm is an Australian native palm that has been extensively used in landscapes in the more temperate parts of New Zealand. The Bangalow is a solitary trunked palm with graceful head of arching feathered fronds. While they can grow up to 20m tall they are more often seen at only 3 to 6m tall.
Bangalow Palms need a fertile free draining soil to thrive and will grow rapidly if given plenty of water over the hot summer months. Regular applications of organic mulch around the root zone will help to keep the palm vigorous and healthy.
Bangalows look great planted either as individuals, or in groups of varying height. As specimens they will give a delicate shade and tropical feel to a landscape and can be planted close to buildings or in gardens where space is limited but height required.
