Usually the dissectum selections of Japanese Maple are weeping trees but this one is an upright form that spreads with age. It has bright green very finely divided foliage that makes it a wonderful small shade tree.
Japanese maples generally enjoy a sunny sheltered spot in any garden with good well-drained soil. A good organic mulch will help to keep the roots cool and moist during the hot dry spells experienced over the summer months. Trees can be clipped to form dense solid trees or pruned judiciously to create light dappled shade. To increase the height of a weeping maple you can select a strongly growing branch in spring and stake it upright to the desired height.
