Putaputaweta forms a small pyramidal tree with small mottled serrated foliage. This under used native tree occurs naturaly in coastal and lowland forest throughout new zealand often along streamsides. Putaputaweta like a lot of our native flora has a distinctive juvenile phase with zig zag almost divaricating branches.
Plant Care
Carpodetus will grow in sun or shade but needs plenty of moisture over the hot summer months and prefers a humus rich free draining soil.
Application
This versatile native tree can be used as a screen or filler with foliage to the ground or as a small evergreen specimen tree on a clear single stem
