Matapouri Blue is a brilliant selection of our native Totara with an upright pyramidal habit when young and beautiful blue gray foliage all year round. Its slow growth makes it easy to manage in any sized garden. Left alone it will grow into a magnificent specimen but with regular trimming it can be kept to almost any size.
Podocarpus Matapouri Bay will grow in most garden conditions and is generally free from any pests and diseases. Regular pruning will turn your Blue Totara into a dense compact tree.
Plant Matapouri Blue as a specimen, dense hedge, topiary subject or espalier it along walls or fences.
Matapouri Blue was introduced to Nurseries by Graeme Platt, another of New Zealands world reknowned nurseryman. Graeme has selected and introduced other great landscape plants such as Platts Black Phormium, Metrosideros Mistral and Vibrance Pohutakawa.
